YORK COUNTY, Pa. —READ MOREAccording to the York County Coroner, the crash happened early at around 2:52 a.m. near mile marker 19.
Police report that a tractor-trailer hauling an empty trailer had been traveling northbound while the southbound I-83 ramp heading south from Market Street onto I-83 was closed for maintenance. The second driver, who was traveling southbound, was then struck by the tractor-trailer which was traveling the wrong way.
Due to this, officials state the victim's car went over a guard-railed embankment and landed against a tree.Emergency dispatch confirmed on Monday that the tractor-trailer driver was injured in the crash.An autopsy is scheduled to take place Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Lehigh Valley Hospital.
