Debris from OceanGate's tourist submersible Titan, that was lost with five passengers aboard, has been recovered and returned to the mainland in Canada. What happens next?
OceanGate's submersible Titan makes a planned dive down to the Titanic wreckage at depth of 3,800 metres in the Atlantic Ocean. One hour and 45 minutes into its two hour descent, communications with the tourist vessel are lost. There are five people on board: Hamish Harding, Stockton Rush, Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Shahzada and Suleman Dawood.A large scale search begins to find the missing submersible.
Debris from the Titan submersible, recovered from the ocean floor near the wreck of the Titanic, is unloaded from the ship Horizon Arctic at the Canadian Coast Guard pier in St. John's, Newfoundland. On Twitter PRS reported its team had successfully completed off-shore operations and is now in the process of demobilisation from the Horizon Arctic, but could not comment on the investigation.
The recovery of the wreckage is a key part of the investigation for authorities to figure out what happened.
