Victoria's Chief Health Officer hopes any new COVID-19 cases that crop up over the next week will be in isolation, limiting the number of new close contacts and exposure sites. And he says the trend is looking good.
They're also trying to find out how a family of four from Victoria became infected on a camping trip to New South Wales. However, Professor Toole does believe contact tracers are doing a great job.The case numbers are not high and in his view, it's unlikely that a whole chain of transmission has been missed.
"What the contact tracing teams will be doing is basically finishing the job, getting to those last contacts of the contacts. But opening up does not mean going back to where we were before this, in a restriction-free world. "There are staged ways to open up, as we're seeing what's happening in rural Victoria," Professor Lewin said."I think the trend is good," he said."That's a really good sign."
