A West Virginia mother who told police that she used a gun to thwart the abduction of her child by an Egyptian man has been charged with filing a false report.

Adams' story fell apart after detectives confronted her over inconsistencies on Tuesday. No witnesses to the alleged incident could be found, and video evidence also revealed problems with the account, police said.
