Health officials will be spraying the affected areas with insecticide on July 11

Mosquitos with West Nile virus were found in parts of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, county health officials announced on Thursday.which include the eastern side of Sunnyvale that borders the western portion of Santa Clara

, will be sprayed with insecticide on July 11 at 10 p.m. for three hours. Officials said there is no need to relocate during the spraying. If resident want to take extra precautions, they can close their windows and keep kids and pets indoors during the spraying. Officials said the insecticide will dissipate the following morning.

The news comes just a week after the virus was found in mosquitos in the central and western parts of Milpitas. According to health officials, over 350 people have died from the virus in California since it was originally discovered in 2003.

To prevent the virus from spreading, health officials recommend getting rid of any stagnant water on your property.
