Wednesday Addams may have defeated her mysterious villain in season 1, but that doesn’t mean Marilyn Thornhill can’t return for more in season 2.
At the end of Wednesday season 1, Wednesday succeeded in taking down the reincarnated Joseph Crackstone and his descendant Laurel Gates aka Marilyn Thornhill, however, the latter's fate wasn't entirely clear, making her return a major possibility in Wednesday season 2. Wednesday is a mystery series with one season out of Netflix and a second in the works.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Wednesday's Marilyn Thornhill, played by The Addams Family's very own Wednesday, Christina Ricci, was an engaging and shocking character. For most of the season, she appeared to be a kind professor, however by the end, she turned out to be the major villain of the season.
Marilyn Thornhill Has Unfinished Business In Wednesday Season 2 The main reason Marilyn Thornhill would return in Wednesday season 2 is that she has unfinished business. Thornhill may have resurrected Crackstone, but she didn't succeed in killing Wednesday and only hurt Nevermore instead of fully taking it down. With such a malicious and intricate plan, it's unlikely that she would just drop her plan because of a single failure.
Why Thornhill Is Still So Important For Wednesday It makes sense to keep Marilyn Thornhill in Wednesday season 2 because she makes for an interesting character, both in and out of the show. The first season spent a significant portion of time building her and her backstory up, and to completely forget about this storytelling wouldn't make sense.
The end of Wednesday season 1 offered a great villain reveal, but Marilyn Thornhill doesn't have to be gone for good. Her lack of a confirmed death means that she can return in season 2 with a bigger grudge and an even scarier plan. Keeping Thornhill in Wednesday keeps the stakes high at Nevermore and maintains the cool aspect of having Christina Ricci in the series. Overall, Marilyn Thornhill should stay for the sake of the show and its fans.
