Three Women's Super League matches, including Sam Kerr's Chelsea up against Liverpool, were called off due to unsafe conditions on the pitch, prompting players, managers and commentators to call for better investment to fight a common problem.
abc.net.au/news/chelsea-game-called-off-after-six-minutes-due-to-frozen-field/101881112Sam Kerr took the field for just six minutes as Chelsea faced Liverpool before the match was abandoned because the field was frozen, sparking complaints from managers and players that the league was not being taken seriously enough.
The referee, after consulting with both managers, took the teams off shortly after the match began at Chelsea's Kingsmeadow stadium "in order to protect the safety of the players," the league said in a statement. "We've got to take our game seriously — yes, we can have our blowers and pitch tents, but it's not enough."
