VIA is offering tickets on Uber through a program that began Monday.VIA Metropolitan Transit fares may now be purchased through the Uber app. The program began on Monday, as VIA attempts to expand access to transit to those San Antonio residents and visitors who may have not previously considered using VIA services.

VIA transportation options are available across San Antonio and Bexar County, including more options when customers purchase through the Uber app, VIA wrote in aRiders can purchase transit passes using their existing payment profile after selecting their route. "We're excited to offer additional fare options and help ensure VIA continues to connect our community to opportunity, support economic vitality and enhance quality of life throughout our region," VIA President and CEO Jeffrey Arndt said in a statement.

VIA aims to ensure mobile ticketing is instantly available to an established user base through the program.
