“I was told that there used to be 34 deviant teaching groups in Pahang. Alhamdulillah, only six are active now. I am saddened to find that two of these groups in Pekan, my birthplace,” Al-Sultan Abdullah said. According to Al-Sultan Abdullah, he had instructed the police and the Pahang Islamic Religious Department to investigate the groups engaged in deviant teachings and hoped that the matter would be resolved amicably.

In the meantime, the Pahang Sultan said that he would meet with all operators of pondok and maahad tahfiz schools in the state as part of an effort to empower the religious education institutions.
