Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe has called for 'real power' and slammed the Albanese Government's Voice to Parliament as she joined demonstrators gathered in Melbourne to protest against the Australia Day public holiday.

This year's protests to change the of the January 26 public holiday, or abolish it altogether, have transformed to also take aim at the Federal Government’s plan for a national Voice to Parliament.

"We have an opportunity to have a treaty that allows for, which is only through a piece of legislation, that can put ten independent black seats in the senate today," she said.The Greens Senator declared"war" against Indigenous lives lost, children stolen and"our men demonised" as she hoped to"heal the country" divided by racism.
