PETALING JAYA: A water surge hit Jeram Mawar near Kampung Air Putih in Kemaman, which claimed the lives of two victims so far, with eight others still missing.

According to Asst Superintendent Ahmad Syukri Yusoff from Terengganu police contingent headquarters, the two bodies were found upstream of Sungai Kemaman on Sunday .

He said the bodies of Azizah Eiyi, 40, and her son, Muhammad Zulqarnain Haikal Karim, 11, were found at 12.45pm, Sinar Harian reported. "The body of the woman was found along the river bank near a cemetery in Kampung Laut while the boy was found on a plank along a river coast leading to Sungai Air Putih lake," it said.

"A car vehicle with the license plate JHY 5517 and a motorcycle with the license plate CER 5753 were found 2km from the area where the second body was found," it added.to our Premium Plan for an ad-free and unlimited reading experience!
