THE Water Department is keeping tabs on the condition of its assets in one part of Inanam, as well as the supply to a Penampang residential property.
The agency hopes in this way to mitigate any irregularities, including leaks and dry taps, in these areas. This action was prompted by feedback about the water wastage which occurred behind Lorong Ujana 11 over the weekend and the lack of supply at some apartments – off Jalan Minintod Bantayan – around the same period.
Both individuals separately furnished Hotline with the pertinent information which was forwarded to the agency.A Department spokesman explained that mischief-makers had tampered with a valve for the elevated tanks. “Offenders risk having to settle a fine for as much RM100,000, serve a jail term of up to one year or both,” the spokesman said.
A Department spokesman said operations at the plant were temporarily halted on Friday night due to the heavy rains in the State Capital. He said a notice about the shutdown was issued over social media at around 7pm on Friday.
