Watch Toni Cornell Sing 'Nothing Compares 2 U' on latelateshow
Toni performed her father’s own version of the Sinead O’Connor cover, off his posthumous album,. Her rendition was strongly soulful, while searing violins surrounded her gentle croon. Both Cornell’s record and its own cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U” snagged Grammy nominations for this year’s awards. The song is one of her late father’s favorite songs.
The younger Cornell initially recorded the cover with her dad, and all its proceeds will benefit the International Rescue Committee. Last year, Toni was named the committee’s youngest appointed ambassador, and she initially began working with the IRC a few years ago alongside her father and the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation.
