Many believed it had something to do with former President Donald Trump, but Garland announced he appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel in the investigation into Hunter Biden. Garland noted Weiss requested that he be given the authority this week.
The press conference occurred at 12:15 p.m. on Friday and was livestreamed from the Justice Department headquarters.
