Outgoing Qantas Chief Executive Alan Joyce will face a grilling by Senators over cost-of-living pressures.

The probe comes after Qantas posted a record full year Underlying Profit of $2.47 billion for the financial year 2022/23.

The national carrier spent billions of dollars’ worth of investments into the company’s aircrafts, destinations and facilities to bounce back from an impeded aviation industry of the pandemic-era. As of June 30 this year, the Qantas Group had liquidity sources of about $10 billion, including $4.4 billion in cash and undrawn facilities and $5.6 billion in unencumbered assets.
