Wallabies playmaker Carter Gordon has announced a shock switch to rugby league, signing a two-year deal to join the Gold Coast Titans.
“I’m under no illusions and understand that this will be a massive challenge. I was really impressed with the Titans and the professionalism they displayed in our meetings. Coming off contract at the end of the year, Gordon began exploring a switch to rugby league when it emerged the Melbourne Rebels were in line to be shut down in 2025, after they went into voluntary administration due to $23 million in debts.Rugby Australia recently announced it would not be backing a rescue plan to keep the Rebels alive, and Melbourne players have been in talks to sign with other Super Rugby teams.
