Pat Cummins has failed to give David Warner's fans the Ashes endorsement they would have hoped for, with the Australian captain admitting it could be the last tour to England for some of his teammates.

Australian captain Pat Cummins has appeared tight-lipped on David Warner's future in the baggy green ahead of the Ashes tour later this year.

Speaking about Warner’s position ahead of the Ashes on Wednesday Cummins did little to reassure the fans the dynamic opener would feature in the final XI. "I've got the next 12 months, a lot of cricket's ahead for the team and if I can keep scoring runs and putting my best foot forward for the team and I can my spot, it'd be great for the team."So for me if I'm taking pressure off the rest of the other guys, and no one's worrying about the rest of the team, I'm happy to do that."

The last time Australia played the Ashes in England in 2019 Warner failed dismally at the hands of paceman Stuart Broad and throughout the 10 innings he scored just 95 runs including three consecutive ducks and a high score of 61. “I dare say this might be the last away Ashes tour, maybe the last Ashes tour for quite a few members of the team so it feels like we’re in that sweet spot and we’ve got to make the most of it,” he said.
