“I think it gives Jacksonville an idea of how many people we have living on the street and what resources we need to make available,” said Kristina Faucett, volunteer. In 2019, volunteers counted more than 11,600 people experiencing homelessness in Northeast Florida. That’s down 32% from a decade ago.
The count included the homeless population in Duval, Clay and Nassau counties. Volunteers did that by surveying those in shelters and living on the streets. “We saw a lot of people, way more people than we anticipated sleeping out considering how cold it is," said longtime volunteer Shawn Liu.Copyright 2020 by WJXT News4Jax - All rights reserved.
