Linda Burney has made an impassioned plea for Australians to Vote Yes in the upcoming Voice to Parliament referendum, urging the time to make a generational difference 'is now'.

Linda Burney has made an impassioned plea for Australians to Vote Yes in the upcoming Voice to Parliament referendum, urging the time to make a generational difference"is now".

Ms Burney reaffirmed the Voice would work"in a practical way" by linking community decision-making and local knowledge with policymakers and government. Ms Burney said the Voice will make an important practical difference to the Community Development Program , an employment and training scheme intended to contribute to remote communities. "It has been criticised for not being responsive to local communities and actually standing in the way of jobs and economic development.

"Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations have pioneered a more effective way of caring for mums and babies, one that embraces tradition and language so that mothers feel safe accessing medical services early and often," she said. “The Voice will be a mechanism for the government and parliament to listen, like a resource of local knowledge and solutions, they can help make us better and help make better policies," she said.
