Independent MP and Yes supporter Kate Chaney says voters “may well defy the polls” and support a constitutionally enshrined Voice to parliament. Chaney, the MP for the Perth-based electorate of Curtin, says voting no means nothing will change. “We already know what no looks like.
It looks like what we’ve got now, and quite frankly it’s unacceptable,” Chaney told Sky News. “I think people are starting to see that the only way we’re actually going to get better outcomes on Indigenous affairs is by listening and being humble about the fact that we’re not very good at developing policy. “And if you’re not very good at doing something, you get advice on how to do it better and that’s what the voice is.
