Artist's mom asks people to 'embrace' the love behind MLK sculpture in Boston
"Hank wanted to acknowledge her story after seeing the couple embracing in the photograph after receiving the Prize. It is difficult for me to read the distasteful attacks that are uninformed about the history of the making of the piece and the number of people who work to make this monument happen.
"Vision is selective and I urge all to visit 'The Embrace' and experience the beauty, and image of hope embraced by my son. I still believe in love and the possibilities that Dr. and Mrs. King shared with us. As artists we communicate in ways that many people take time to understand and Hank is creating a space for joy. Sadly, the comments disrespect the craft of foundry and mission of the community.
