Virgin Australia has announced a partnership with Myer, which will let the 10.9 million members of its frequent flyer program Velocity use their flight points to shop at the department store.

Seeking to tap consumers’ heightened interest in rewards programs amid record inflation, Velocity has begun offering members of rival frequent flyer programs to trial Virgin’s gold membership.To retain the gold membership for 12 months - previously only offered to the most active frequent flyers - new members will only be required to book one eligible flight and earn 80 status credits over the trial period.
