A San Francisco Chronicle reporter tweeted that two witnesses at the scene said they intervened and separated the couple. He also tweeted a photo of police at the scene talking to witnesses.

CONNECTTWEETLINKEDINCOMMENTEMAILMORESan Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer was captured on video Friday having a public argument with his wife that turned physical, and Major League Baseball later released a statement saying it would investigate the incident.

The video, which was taken at a San Francisco plaza and published by TMZ, shows Baer reaching over his wife, Pam Baer, who was sitting in a chair, to take something out of her hand. The chair flipped over, and she fell to the ground, screaming."My wife and I had an unfortunate public argument related to a family member, and she had an injured foot and she fell off her chair in the course of the argument," he said. "The matter is resolved. It was a squabble over a cell phone.

“Major League Baseball is aware of the incident and, just like any other situation like this, will immediately begin to gather the facts. We will have no further comment until this process is completed.” The Chronicle reporter tweeted that two witnesses at the scene said they intervened and separated the couple. He also tweeted a photo of police at the scene talking to witnesses.

Baer has been the Giants' "control person" since 2011, representing the franchise at owners' meetings. He has been instrumental in the club's rise to baseball's upper-middle class since aiding the late Peter Magowan in purchasing the club in 1992 -- from the signing of Barry Bonds to the development of Oracle Park, the Giants' waterfront home that opened in 2000.
