Ten people were injured Tuesday on a busy street near the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan when a stolen SUV suspect ran from the police.
Police said a license plate scanner alerted officers Tuesday evening to a vehicle that was reported stolen in the Bronx a day earlier. Officers tried to stop the SUV, which initially appeared to be pulling over, police said. However, the vehicle drove off, struck a bicyclist and a taxi and then went up on a sidewalk and hit pedestrians while making a U-turn, police said. The SUV then drove the wrong way on the street and struck another vehicle head-on.
