Police on Monday said that 31 people, including three children, were displaced as a result of the explosion, the cause of which has not yet been determined.

Police and fire responded to the scene, helping six people who were injured, five of whom were hospitalized, according to officials. A woman among those hurt suffered critical injuries as a result of the burns.
In a statement on Monday, PSE&G said they did respond to the explosion to shut off utilities, and that they had crews in the area on Saturday doing unrelated work. They referred comments to the city of Newark, which said an investigation is still ongoing.Sign up for NBC LA newsletters.
