Their two friends, both 21-year-old women, were taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. Updates on their conditions weren’t available Wednesday. Ewing-Gibbs was a "bright young man" who worked as a barber and volunteered to mentor young kids at the YMCA, his mother said.
