Marathon Petroleum officials identified the worker killed in a Monday fire that burned for four hours at its Texas City refinery as 19-year employee Scott Higgins. Two contractors also were hospitalized from the blaze.

Officials said the fire at the Marathon refinery posed no threat to the community and residents did not need to shelter in place. They said emergency responders had arrived at the scene by around 10:30 a.m. The filing said Olivo was working near where the fire broke out and that he intends to sue “the entities responsible for causing the incident and his resulting injuries and damages.”
