Veterans Day is always Nov. 11, but this year it falls on Saturday, so some events are planned for Friday, Nov. 10.

Here is a sampling of Veterans Day events Friday through Sunday in Los Angeles County. The list is by time on each day.A Veterans Day celebration with keynote speaker Cmdr. Virginia R. American Legion Post 270, Boy Scout Troop 441, Cub Scout Pack 805 and Girl Scout Troop 5605 salute veterans at the celebration, 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served following the program. The event includes local dignitaries and elected officials welcoming veterans, 11 a.m.; resources information for veterans and community, music by, a children’s fun zone and food trucks, through 4 p.m. Master of ceremonies is DJ Mr. Quick, who also spins sets throughout the day. The annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Refreshments are served after the program. South El Monte City Hall, front lawn, 1415 Santa Anita Ave. 626-579-2043. Flyer:The event honoring veterans and active military includes the Pledge of Allegiance, playing Taps, a moment of silence for those who died in service to the country, and members from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles singing the National Anthem, 11 a.m.
