Vatican offers plenary indulgence for Grandparents’ Day

Chosen by Pope Francis, the theme of Grandparents’ Day 2023 comes from a verse in the Gospel of Luke: “His mercy is from age to age.” An indulgence is defined by the Catechism of the Catholic Church as “a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven.”

In his decree, Cardinal Piacenza asked priests to be more available to hear confessions in light of the possible indulgence.
