During this visit, the group sang hymns from PNG, which deeply moved Francis. This encounter sparked Francis’ interest in the country, particularly in Vanimo and other marginalized areas. Francis is slated to visit Vanimo on Sept. 8 during his Sept. 6-8 visit to Papua New Guinea as part of his four-nation apostolic visit to Southeast Asia.
