Sky News host Cory Bernardi says there were “disgusting scenes” over the weekend as police bodycam footage showed five Memphis policemen beating an unarmed man to death on January 7.
Tyre Nichols was stopped on a reckless driving claim and was repeatedly kicked, punched in the head, struck with a metal baton and pepper sprayed.
“The brutal assault lasted four minutes and when paramedics were called, Nichols remained virtually unattended for nearly half an hour. He later died in hospital,” Mr Bernardi said. “The officers have been stood down and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two charges of aggravated kidnapping, two charges of official misconduct and one charge of official oppression.”
