The West Philippine Sea task force said the 'dangerous blocking maneuvers” violated Philippine sovereignty and sovereign rights.

MANILA — The embassies of the US and Canada on Sunday condemned moves by the Chinese Coast Guard to block a resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre, a Philippine Navy ship grounded on Ayungin Shoal, that led to a collision between a Chinese ship and a civilian Filipino boat contracted for the mission.

"The United States condemns PRC’s latest disruption of a legal Philippine resupply mission to Ayungin Shoal, putting the lives of Filipino service members at risk,” US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson said on X. In a statement earlier Sunday, the West Philippine Sea task force said the "dangerous blocking maneuvers” violated Philippine sovereignty and sovereign rights as well as international law.

The Canadian Embassy meanwhile said it "affirms its support for a rules-based order in the South China Sea consistent with international law, including UNCLOS and the 2016 arbitral decision, which is final and binding on the parties."China confirms Coast Guard blocked PH ships
