UPSI mahu hidupkan tulisan Jawi bermula 2020

Mohammad Shatar berpandangan kemerosotan minat generasi hari ini terhadap tulisan jawi harus dipulih dan digalakkan terutama di UPSI, institusi melahirkan pendidik yang akan mengajar di sekolah-sekolah di seluruh negara. – Gambar fail The Malaysian Insight, 25 Disember, 2019.

UNIVERSITI Pendidikan Sultan Idris akan mengimarahkan tulisan Jawi di kedua-dua kampusnya iaitu Kampus Sultan Azlan Shah di Proton City dan Kampus Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah bermula tahun depan, sebagai usaha mengangkat aksara itu sebagai warisan bangsa di negara ini. Naib Canselor UPSI Prof Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran berkata, UPSI akan membantu Kementerian Pendidikan menyemarakkan tulisan Jawi, selaras dengan sejarah penubuhan universiti itu yang memperjuangkan bahasa dan kesusasteraan Melayu sejak tahun 1920-an lagi, iaitu di zaman Sultan Idris Training College .
