KOTA KINABALU: The presence of unknown people in cars outside an apartment where Kuamut assemblyman Datuk Masiung Bannah stays has triggered speculation he is being pressured to leave Parti Warisan Sabah.
Sabah police commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass said police were dispatched to the area after receiving a call from Masiung, who said he saw a suspicious vehicle on the evening of June 22.
"After getting the call, a team of policemen was sent to check but they did not see any suspicious vehicle outside the house or around the area," he said, adding that the policemen left soon after. He said police have yet to receive Masiung's report as of June 24. Datuk Kalakau Utol, a former Federal-level deputy labour minister, posted on Facebook that Masiung's house was being cordoned off by people in many unknown cars, and even alleged that they were policemen.
Masiung could not be reached for comments but according to his aide who did not want to be named, he was shaken by the incident and resting at home. Recently, two assemblymen from Upko, a coalition party of the Warisan-led state government, left the party to support Perikatan Nasional in Sabah.
