The website is part of the university’s deybwewin-taapwaywin-tapwewin policy, named for the Saulteaux, Michif and Cree words for “truth.” U of S interim vice-provost of Indigenous engagement Angela Jaime said the policy isn’t required for all Indigenous people on campus, only those “seeking any Indigenous-specific resource” at the university.We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.

Jaime said people will have as long as five years to submit proof of citizenship or membership in an Indigenous community. Submitted documents will go into a secure system that “doesn’t talk to” any of the other computer systems on campus, she added. So far, she said about 180 people have submitted documents.
