American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Michael Rubin says India can be sure that the United States will not throw them “under the bus” regarding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusations over the death of a Sikh leader. On June 18, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, a city southeast of Vancouver. The relationship between India and Canada was then severely damaged in September when the Canadian Prime Minister accused India of being involved in the death of Nijjar during a speech in Parliament. Mr Rubin said politicians from both sides of US politics put a strong importance on the country’s relationship with India. “The United States strategy is going to be on this is simply to drag things out until emotions stabilise,” he said.
