GEORGE TOWN (Bernama): Wily Penang Road Transport Department (JPJ) enforcement personnel who masqueraded as passengers since February resulted in the detentions of six men suspected to be taxi touts at the Penang International Airport (PIA) to date.

Penang RTD director Mohamat Johari Mat Not today said that the six men, aged from 35 to 45 years old, were arrested after they tried to cajole the undercover enforcement personnel to use their"services".

He said the six men were being investigated under Section 205 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, namely, to coax or urge and if found guilty could be fined not exceeding RM50,000 or jailed not more than five years or both. Mohamat Johari said the operation was also aimed at ensuring the safety of the public by ensuring they did not use unlicensed services and to protect the image of the country.
