Malaysian philanthropist, Uncle Kentang, has appealed to the recent Sports Toto jackpot winners to donate a portion of their winnings to purchase an ambulance for his organization. He emphasizes the need for ambulances to transport elderly patients suffering from strokes and cancer who lack the means for transportation.
Just yesterday, news broke that several lucky Malaysians had become overnight millionaires after winning the RM121 million jackpot from the Sports Toto Supreme 6/58 Jackpot Game. Now, a familiar face is urging these winners to use some of their newfound wealth for good. Malaysian philanthropist, Uncle Kentang , took to his Facebook page to request that the winners donate a portion of their winnings to purchase an ambulance for his cause.
He wrote, “Toto winners, where are you? I hope that the 3 Toto winners can donate an ambulance to our organisation. Each new ambulance costs RM300,000 and secondhand ones cost RM220,000.” Uncle Kentang expressed his hope that the three winners will heed his call, stating that many elderly people in Malaysia suffer from strokes and cancer, and many are poor, bedridden, and in desperate need of an ambulance to reach hospitals for follow-up treatments. His plea extends beyond the Sports Toto winners, as he encourages businesses to also contribute and help alleviate the suffering of the less fortunate. “Any companies or businesses can also call me to inquire about sponsorships and donations. We need all of you to act together and show kindness to the poor and the sick.”The posting received mixed reactions from netizens. While some were supportive of Uncle Kentang's suggestion, others believed it was inappropriate to pressure the winners into making donations. Some commented, “If I won, I would have no problem with buying a new (ambulance). But, I do hope that the winner can take out a little bit to help more people in need. Thank you!” and “This post is a bit inappropriate. The winner paid for their tickets. Maybe they were really lucky and won after buying (tickets) a few times. But, I do hope they see this and help out if they can.” Others expressed concerns about pressuring the winners, stating “The winners have the right to decide how they want to spend the money, right? If a winner doesn’t donate to buy an ambulance, does that mean they are not good people? People who didn’t win the lottery can also donate through crowdfunding. Don’t blackmail the winners morally.” Those who wish to help can find Uncle Kentang's contact information on his Facebook page. What do you think about this?
