KUALA LUMPUR: Umno lawmakers are calling for stern action against those who vandalised the murals of several prominent personalities.
Among the defaced murals include Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.“The Shah Alam City Council should take immediate action against those involved, ” he said in Parliament yesterday.
Ahmad Maslan, who is Umno secretary-general, said he hoped that the authorities would view the CCTV footage to track down the culprits.Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said such acts of vandalism were irresponsible and could not be forgiven. “Respect the leaders and appreciate the painters who painstakingly created the art piece, ” he tweeted.
A set of murals depicting the portraits of the King and several others were found to have been vandalised with foul words sprayed on them. The giant murals in Section U12, Shah Alam, were painted earlier this month by three friends: Muhammad Suhaimi Ali or Miey Ali, 27, Abdul Hadi Ramli, 27, and Muhamad Firdaus Nordin, 26.
