Sir Billy Connolly, Muhammad Ali, Sir Elton John, Madonna and Dame Helen Mirren were just some of the high-profile figures he spoke to. In a statement released to the BBC, his family said: “After a brief illness Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at home last night in the company of his family.Sir Michael revealed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013 and was given the all-clear after two years of treatment including radiotherapy.
