UK advises citizens to stay away from Iran, Iraq

The United Kingdom has advised its citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran and Iraq following the assassination of a senior Iranian general by the US yesterday. – EPA pic, January 4, 2020.

THE British government today advised UK nationals to avoid travelling to Iraq and Iran in the face of heightened tensions in the Middle East following the US killing of a top Iranian commander in Baghdad. “Following the death of Qasem Soleimani and heightened tensions in the region… We now advise British nationals against all travel to Iraq we now advise against all but essential travel to Iran,” Britain’s Foreign Office said in a statement.
