University of Houston won their first game of March Madness as fans watched together...

He's among the many Cougars fans hoping this is the year.
Dickens, 63, was in a crowd of about a hundred University of Houston students, alumni and fans Thursday night in the outdoor space in front of Avenida Houston to watch the. The had a large screen showing the game, a giant inflatable Shasta mascot, games and Final Four merchandise giveaways. The party was put on by the Final Four organizing institutions including Houston First and Houston Sports Authority.
“We really wanted to watch the game around other UH fans,” Van Alstine said. “We were just going to watch in apartment alone but we wanted energy and to hear fans and feel like we’re at the game.”“I feel like it brings so many students together,” he said. “You can be talking to someone and I have no idea who you are, but you bring up March Madness and it's like you’re best friends.”Similar to most people at the watch party — University of Houston was his pick to win the championship.
