Several areas, including Port Shepstone, have experienced significant outages with some lasting over a week.Ugu's France Zama says there were significant breaks in the northern pipeline system.
"The past couple of days we've been trying to resuscitate the water supply system that is supplying areas from Umtentweni up to Hibberdene and progress has been made in some areas where the water supply has been restored and we are in the process of recovering water supply to the area that is being supplied through the mobile system. Other major breaks have hindered our progress."Zama says they are also working on a long-term solution.
The KZN South Coast Tourism group says while the water supply remains a challenge, the issue is limited to certain areas and several tourism establishments have made provisions.
