The third-year defensive back from Gardena’s Serra High, with 21 games under his belt, craves a ‘bigger role’ on the Bruins’ defense
LOS ANGELES — UCLA defensive back Devin Kirkwood has prepared to take on a bigger role in his third year with the program.
The graduate of Gardena’s Junipero Serra High is expected to build upon his early success and develop into the Bruins’ premier cornerback. Kirkwood finished last season with 27 tackles, four pass deflections and a fumble recovery in nine games. “It helped me learn not to take things for granted,” Kirkwood said. “I had never been hurt like that before but was able to support my teammates and watch them go to battle.”
