Treatment: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted full final approval to Gilead Sciences Inc.’s remdesivir, making it the first Covid-19 treatment deemed safe and effective by the regulator, the company said Thursday. The drug has been widely used to treat hospitalized Covid-19 patients since May, when it was given an emergency-use authorization.
New York: Data drawn from the NYU Langone Health system show the Covid-19 mortality rate dropped to 7.6% in August from 25.6% in March among the 5,121 patients hospitalized. The data shows that even after accounting for patient demographic and clinical factors, mortality from Covid-19 is decreasing, researchers said.
