While law enforcement agencies in the U.S. say there are no immediate plans to step up a visible police presence following the killing of top Iranian commander, officials say they are monitoring events and will adjust as intelligence warrants.

The move, which the Pentagon said was conducted at President Donald Trump's direction, comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, and the strike could ratchet up the conflict.

Neither the Los Angeles Police Department nor the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has taken any step beyond its annual New Year's deployment increase, officials said. But they are in communication with local, state and federal partners.
