Kavanaugh, appointed by Republican President Donald Trump to a lifetime position on the highest U.S. judicial body, will address the annual meeting of the Federalist Society. One of the organization’s leaders, Leonard Leo, has served as an adviser to Trump on judicial nominations. Some of his colleagues - including fellow Trump appointee Justice Neil Gorsuch, who has been promoting a new book, and liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who makes speaking engagements - regularly make public appearances.
His affable demeanor during oral arguments at the court - in which he adopts a deferential tone when asking questions - stands in contrast to his incensed testimony during his televised September 2018 confirmation hearings when he accused Democrats of orchestrating a hit-job against him.
