US Vice-President Kamala Harris says the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols by five black police officers was a violent act that went against the mission of police, at his funeral in Memphis.
Two more officers have been suspended while two Memphis Fire Department emergency medical workers and a lieutenant were also fired.
"We need to take some action because there should be no other child that should suffer the way my son — and all the other parents here have lost their children — we need to get that bill passed," she said. "But you don't fight crime by becoming criminals yourself. You don't stand up to thugs in the street becoming thugs yourself.
