Northern Territory Police are investigating a car crash that killed two people on the Tanami Road in the central desert region on Friday.
Two people have died in a car crash on the Tanami Road in the Northern Territory 's central desert region.
In a statement, NT Police said emergency services received reports at about 2:50pm on Friday that a sedan carrying five people had crashed on the Tanami Road, about 20 kilometres from the Stuart Highway intersection. NT Police said police officers, fire crews and St John Ambulance NT paramedics attended the scene, where a man and a woman were declared dead.NT Police said the Major Crash Investigation unit was investigating the incident.The deaths bring the NT's road toll to 34 — up from seven this time last year.
