MILAN (Reuters) - Tesla shares opened up 3.6% in Frankfurt trading on Thursday, even as quarterly results at the U.S. electric vehicle maker fell short of Wall Street expectations.

In the first case, a 44-year-old man fell victim to a Macau scam when he was contacted by someone impersonating a police officer.

“Under the pretence of conducting an audit, the scammer convinced the victim to freeze their bank account and transfer funds to multiple accounts as part of the so-called audit process,” he said in a statement here on Thursday . “The victim was sent a link to register an account on the website and was instructed to evaluate products listed on the platform. The scam promised high commissions and a return of deposited funds,” he said.

Investigations found that seven of the bank accounts involved had a history of 48 previous scam-related records. The police have urged the public to be cautious and not to fall for investment schemes promising quick and high returns with minimal effort.
